In 2019 we ran our first summer camps and they were a huge hit. Our small-sized camps gave children a true hands-on experience, almost as though they lived on our farm for a week. By 2022, many of our camps sold out in under one hour from when we opened registration in January. (Have a look here at this beautiful writeup of our camps in Connecticut Food & Farm Magazine).
In 2023 we added our Outdoor Skills component to our program and it was a huge success! Campers enjoyed everything from the council ring opening and closing ceremonies to fire building to compass skills.
Children spend time in our three focuses each day: Livestock education, Nature Art and Outdoor Skills. Our program continues to “find fun ways to get dirty“, something so essential to a healthy childhood.
We recommend joining our mailing list to stay in the loop about signup dates or becoming a Shepherd Level Member or higher to enjoy all of the programming benefits as well as an exclusive Early Registration week.
How do I check if my membership will be current?
Log into your account on our website where it will tell you when your membership will automatically renew. Please note, all memberships must also be active at the time of camp to redeem the camp discounts.
I want to join as a Shepherd Member but want all of my children to get into the same camp week, is this possible?
As long as your membership is active by 11:59pm on Sunday January 19th you will receive the email on Jan 20 where you will rank your top three week choices for camps. Then, yes, we can get all children together on the same week (it will be one of your top 3). If you miss the pre-pre-registration week, you can check for remaining spots when online registration opens on January 31.
Will my children be in the same group within the camp week?
Possibly but not necessarily because we split our group of 18 children into two groups of 9 and age is one of the criteria for the split.
Why do you have membership levels linked to camp registration?
When you join as a member, not only do you receive discounts on camp but also you are invited to behind-the-scenes events on the farm including lambing tours, shearing days, morning chores and more. It is the culmination of these connections throughout the year that provides meaning and context to the educational programs we provide.
Please also note that while the registration fee is not refundable you may transfer it to another child (that fits in the age group selected) once you notify us of the change.
