Our Spring Break camp is a rare opportunity for older children (Grades 8 through 12) to spend a week as a working member on our farm. Children will have daily hands-on experience with morning chores and learn about all aspects of running a farm from record-keeping to animal health care. It is a combination of camp and internship, where children are guided through tasks just like we do with interns. Campers are encouraged to explore our wealth of agricultural textbooks from soil science to animal husbandry and to spend time observing and learning about our animals and plants. This time of year is especially fun as all of our lambs will be born and we will have goat kids, chicks and bunnies to work with and care for as well. Campers will also get to spend time in our greenhouse and test out their green thumbs.
Campers will learn about dairy goats, have the opportunity to learn to milk and more. Then during the week we will also learn how to make products from our farm including soap and cheese.
This camp is great for children who are interested in environmental science, animals, ecology and agriculture. Camp runs from 9am-2pm April 6-10. Because of the true hands-on nature of this camp, and due to the abundance of young animals, we keep this camp extra-small with only 5 spots available.
