Happy Labor Day! I wanted to share this photo of the ‘hot’ border shot this evening when I went out to do the animals. Jake the barn cat was rolling around to get my attention on some nearby Iris plants but I was intent to capture this moment in the garden. And while I shot this photo, I was briefly startled by the growl of hummingbird wings whizzing by to the Salvias. They have become regular visitors throughout the garden now. Likewise, it is practically a butterfly highway to the orange Tithonias towering at over 6 foot tall in the back of the border. This is actually the view I see from my kitchen window so I have been eagerly anticipating this moment. And here it is! And even though he wasn’t getting attention while I was shooting this photo, I think Jake is pretty happy for this moment of floral splendor if only for the fact that it is so dense and tall he can pretend he is hunting in the jungle!
